MALVAZIJA ISTARSKA
This is the most grown grape variety in Istria, currently
totalling almost 60% of the whole region's vineyards.
Around one hundred years ago, Istrian Malvazija was poorly
represented in this region. Interest in this indigenous grape
and its subsequent rapid expansion started only after the First
World War, and its significant development took place after the
Second World War.
In addition to being an indigenous grape variety, with no apparent link to other grapes in the European malvasia family grown around central and southern Europe, Istrian malvazija is well known for producing an exceptional quality white wine. This is widely recognized by both local and foreign wine lovers and connoisseurs.
